These characteristics are also reflected in the new blade geometry: the ricasso enables fast and precise changes of direction in the cut. The strongly pronounced finger recess in combination with the notched back of the knife provides the necessary grip even in adverse weather conditions.
The Böhler steel N690 (60-61 Rockwell) of the blade contributes to the unique cutting experience.

The Rotwild brand incorporates the long lasting experiences of the experts at Otter-Messer. The use of exclusively high-quality knife steels and other materials reflects the philosophy of the manufactory. The blades and handles as well as the leather sheaths are handmade in Solingen. .
To start with, we’ve been looking for high-quality woodcarving tools for quite some time. The situation didn’t fit our needs at all, either the products were too expensive and the quality was low or it was the complete opposite, we hit on the great quality items for the huge price. That’s why we managed to set up our own company called BeaverCraft, and in the latter 2014 we hit the market.

Formerly a working knife in seafaring, today it is a reliable companion even outside the sea. Anchor knives have been produced since the middle of the 19th century.
The Otter Mercator is made in Solingen Germany and was intended as a working knife but quickly became the companion of many soldiers in both world wars.
The namesake for the hunting and outdoor knife Rotwild Habicht is known for its agility. These characteristics also correspond with the attributes of the knife Habicht RWF 02.

The OTTER® company was founded around 1840 in a small ‘Kotten’ – a traditional grinder’s watermill – at the Königsmühle in Solingen by the Berns brothers. Their name comes from the indigenous otters, which used to live in the riverbanks and streams in the Bergisch Land region in North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. They also adorn the products as the company’s logo.
